Young Photographers United (YPU) was created in 2001 as an organisation with the aim of promoting young photographers. As an international platform, the organisation supports young blood flowing into the photography world.

The advantage of working with emerging photographers is that they are submerged in the fast evolving digital era we live in. They grew up with a mix of traditional and new technology and combine the best of both worlds. In every continent, our members strive to become leading professional photographers and express their vision of the world. They stand together as a group united by a common aim and show exceptional talent.

We also know that the period between graduation and professional recognition is a time when many young photographers struggle and sometimes even give up. Not because they lack talent, but because it takes much more than that to succeed as a photographer. YPU provides essential expertise, management skills and a wide network of contacts to support them through this difficult period. The diverse YPU projects help them to break through internationally.

The management team shares a commitment to quality and operates under an international outlook. Our headquarters are in Ghent; but our easy online back-office allows us to work with team members around the globe. We are also in close and regular contact with photography course leaders in colleges and universities worldwide.

YPU also promotes creative and effective partnerships with commercial businesses, organisations, magazines or individuals who recognise the need for an original and innovative response to the unique challenges of the digital age and the new media.
 Each year we select 50 of the most exceptional new talents from more than 2,000 applicants around the world. Photographers remain with the foundation for three years; YPU therefore has a constant and regularly updated pool of 150 creative talents. Based in every country in Europe, and in every continent, they are committed to providing a professional and outstanding service.
